preparing wisely.

April 25, 2016. A little birdie told this Webmaster that we have new Rockets joining this year! We will give them all a big shout out when we get the full roster.
First meet of the year is coming up soon! The annual Gail A. Blackwell will kick off the season for our younger children (as our middle school and high schoolers will still be competing for their schools). Stay tuned for more information.

Look for the website to gas up early this year. The Ohio Rockets begin their 2016 AAU season in May, and this webmaster believes that this will be the best season ever. On the heels of a ridiculously successful 2015 season, 2016 will be the year to see who emerges as the next superstar, who makes the most progress, and which newcomer makes their statement.

The Ohio Rockets Track & Field Club was established in 2011 by Earl Williams, who is still Head Coach. Some of the athletes from our rookie year are still competing with us, and we have watched them grow into young adults and high schoolers. Our commitment has always been on the progress of the kids. We not only teach sportsmanship and self-worth, we have taught the children that with dedication and practice, they can improve, they can achieve their goals, and they can be a superstar. Success is not measured in the number of medals you win, but by the progress you make through the year.

AAU Jr. Olympics Begins Saturday July 28!
Camille Trotman will be kicking off the Jr. Olympics 8:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28th, as she contests the Bantam Girls Triathlon. She will also be competing in the 100M and the High Jump.

Special shoutout to Camille for an outstanding performance at the AAU Area 11 (Ohio) National Qualifier in Springfield last weekend. She opened the series by earning her first Gold in the Bantam Girls Triathlon, followed by a wicked time of 14:27 in the 100M for her second Gold medal, and finally landing a Silver medal in the high jump! We will keep you posted of Camille's performance at the 2012 AAU Jr. Olympics.
Congratulations to the Ohio Rockets that are advancing to the Ohio State Hershey Track Meet on July 7th at Jesse Owens Stadium here in Columbus, Ohio! Some lucky winners will be chosen to represent at the Hershey North American Finals on August 4.

Ohio Rockets are kicking off their season this Saturday, May 12, at the Gail A. Blackwell Invitational (click here for flyer). Make sure your fees ($13 per athlete) are paid by the end of practice on May 9th (Wednesday).

You must have an AAU card ($12) to participate in the Gail A. Blackwell Invitational this Saturday. Visit www.aausports.org to purchase a membership. The Ohio Rockets wrapped up their 2011 AAU Jr. Olympics trip today, as Azariah and Sky both competed in the 800 Meter Run! Both Azariah and Sky marked Personal Best times today, so let's give them a big congratulations!!

Camille Trotman has earned the top honor of first medalist for the Ohio Rockets Track & Field Club! She jumped right into 7th place for Sub-Bantam Girls High Jump, earning herself a National Medal with a height of 3 ft 8 in.! Way to go!

Big congratulations to our Fabulous Four 12-year-old girls take home 1st-4th place! Yes, Ciara (gold), Ahchaunti (silver), Sydney (bronze), and Shanell (4th place ribbon) blew everyone off the track in the 800 Meter Run! There were so many medalists in this meet, it was hard to total them up. Special shout out to Michael-Steven Frazier (silver medalist), who crossed the finish line in the 800M with a very special salute to Usain Bolt.

State Meet!
Congratulations to Aman Thornton (pictured below) who qualified for the Hershey State Meet next weekend! Aman placed first in the 400 Meter Run and has earned a shot at the Hershey State Track finals on July 9th! Grand prize is an all-expense paid trip to Hershey Pennsylvania - good luck!

This weekend - the National Qualifier.
Only the top five of individual event winners (and top four
relays & multievent winners) will make it over this
hurdle and qualify for the National AAU Jr. Olympics! Good
luck to all the Rockets competing this weekend at Wittenberg
University in Springfield. Results will be immediately

Congratulations to Sydney Williams (pictured below left) and Ciara Clausell (pictured below right) who each won first place in two events Friday, June 24th, at the Hershey Track Meet at Westerville! Sydney took first in the 200M and 400M, and Cici landed first place in both the 100M and the 800M. Good job girls!
